It seems my maternal skills have not been as successful as I thought. As a reasonably politically savvy person, I assumed that my young teenager would, at least, have acquired some basic understanding of various nations' political lives. Perhaps not!
Her (on watching the British news): What does MP stand for?
Me: Member of Parliament.
Her: Oh? Really? Are you sure?
Me: Yes. Very.
Her: I thought it meant Maple Person!
Me: What? Huh?
Her: You know? A Canadian!
*hit head against wall*
